Telegram has recently introduced experimental support for voice calls in a group in the latest Telegram beta version 7.3.0. You can follow these steps:

  1. First, you need to open a group.
  2. Further tap on the header of the group to expand it.
  3. A complete list of notification settings, group members, ability to change the name of the group, and more will appear on your screen.
  4. Press on the ellipsis icon appearing on the upper-right corner and select the ‘Start Voice chat.’
  5. A prompt window will appear when you initiate a group audio chat. You need to give a confirmation regarding your selection in it.
  6. There’s also a checkbox present there, which only admins can use to convey some information. For the rest of the users, it will be in a listen-only mode. This amazing option will no doubt be very convenient for group chats of a larger number.
  7. In addition to that, access to initiate the calls is only limited to the administrators.
  8. You will be on mute by default. Once you have joined the meeting, you can unmute the mic by tapping on either the large unmute button or holding the mic button to speak. The process is pretty similar to how you send the voice notes.
  9. The blue mic button will turn green once you unmute yourself. Alongside that, you will be shown some visual animations while you are conveying any message.

How to Get Telegram Group Voice Calling on Android

According to us, the group voice calling feature of Telegram is on par with other services. We didn’t observe any major latency while we made some calls using it. However, it might be a bit cumbersome to initiate a group call. It would be best if a call button gets added on the homepage of the group before the group voice calling feature is released for the stable version.
